What I do

Liability, crises, and disasters are not the "fun" part of meetings and events, but they are a necessary part of professional planning and management.  Some of my students have called me "Dr. Doom" for making my career out of focusing on these topics, but I believe that knowledge is power, so I've made it my life's work to help those in the meetings, events, and hospitality industries be better informed and better prepared.

I have been invited to speak on these topics to groups small and large worldwide, to take some of the fear out of the subjects, help them understand how certain laws and risks affect them, and help them put practical measures into place.

I have facilitated sessions with meeting and event planners from every segment--association, corporation, government, SMERF, 3rd party.  I have addressed university groups, trained in-house counsel, and spoken to student groups at colleges and universities in North America, Europe, and Asia.

I teach courses in hospitality, meetings and events, and business for the College of Coastal Georgia.  My favorite courses to teach are Hospitality & Event Law, Crisis Management for Hospitality, and Conference & Meeting Management.

I have developed curriculum and taught courses in several different hospitality and tourism areas throughout my academic career, teaching at The University of Alabama, George Washington University, and University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV)--both Las Vegas and Singapore campuses. I have been invited to address groups at the University of South Alabama and Shanghai Normal University.
